How long can you wait to have sex after you notice egg white fluid and have an LH surge on OPK?

I saw my LH and Estrogen surge and noticed egg white fluid this morning at 8am - but my husband is working very late tonight. Will it be too late to try to conceive by the time he gets home at 10pm?

When you get a positive OPK, it means that you are likely to ovulate within 24 hours. Once you ovulate, you've got about 12 hours before the egg will die if it has not been fertilized (it can be as little as 6 hours, and possibly as long as 24).

So given that you might have gotten your LH surge just after testing with an OPK the morning before or you might have just gotten your LH surge, you could be ovulating in as little as 6 hours or as much as 24.

So based just on that information, you might have as little as 12 hours or as much as 48 hours.

As for EWCM, well every woman is going to be different, but on average, women in their twenties usually have about 4 days of EWCM before they ovulate (with CM drying up as they ovulate). That same woman at age 40 is likely to only have EWCM for only one day before she ovulates.
